Why not use an old loudspeaker? - It's pretty easy!
Upgrading a worn-out DALI 7 from passive crossover to an active amplifier system.
The smaller "Coolback" in Gallery 2 is fit into the back of this old loudspeaker box.
The DALI 7 loudspeaker ended up playing very well - surely better than ever before!

This is how it looked before any work was done. The foam suspension of the woofer
was nearly gone and the magnet of the midrange had lossened from the front. Only
the tweeter could be reused.

Old drivers removed.

Make an accurate cut in the back of the box.

The cutting is done - now there will be a hole to fit the amplifier.

Checking that the cut-out is correct. Seems okay.

Refitting the bass reflex port.

The Coolback has to be firmly supported and sealed to make the port work right.

A little black paint to cover the old scratches.

Looks nice with the new drivers - ready for assembly.

Ohh, where is the vacuum cleaner? - The front cover is dusty!

Now it is time to connect the Coolback by soldering the internal speaker cables.

The smaller Coolback is fitted and just needs screws.

The initial test and setup going on - sounds damn nice - even without any measurements and eq corrections.

The final result looks quite good - still dusty though - where is the f***ing vacuum cleaner?
You might think that this amplifier isn't that loud - but it is - active drive does the trick!
It all about music - and I have enjoyed it for days!
